Seasons

On an all-time leaderboard, the top spots belong to whoever has been around the longest. Seasons add a second board that resets every one, two or three whole months, so anyone can win the current season. All-time XP, levels and reward roles are never touched.

How a season works#

• A season covers whole UTC months (1–3). Season 1 starts at the beginning of the month you turn seasons on.
• The season board ranks members by the XP they earned during the season, from any source (messages, voice, drops, quests, rep, achievements…).
• When the season ends, Buddy records the champion and top 10, moves the Season champion role to the winner, posts a recap in the recap channel and starts the next season.
• The champion unlocks the Season champion achievement.

Set it up#

Setting it up needs Manage Server. Run /xp engagement and choose Seasons, or use the XP engagement page in the dashboard:

• Seasons on/off. Turning it on starts Season 1 within 5 minutes.
• Season length: 1, 2 or 3 months. Applies from the next season.
• Season champion role (optional): moves to each season's #1. Buddy needs Manage Roles, with its role above it.
• Announce season start & end: posted in the recap channel set under Recaps & champions (or the level-up channel).

What members see#

• /xp leaderboard period:Season shows the current standings, period:Last season the final standings of the last one.
• /xp stats shows their season rank and XP and when the season ends.

Troubleshooting#

The season board is empty#

Season XP counts from the moment seasons were turned on (and from when your server updated to Buddy 4.1, when per-period tracking started). Older XP isn't counted.

The season didn't end on time#

Seasons end at 00:00 UTC on the first day after the last month, within 5 minutes. The recap needs a recap or level-up channel Buddy can post embeds in; the role move needs Manage Roles.
