Question of the day

A question of the day gets quiet members talking. Once a day Buddy posts a question in a channel you choose, opens a thread for the answers, and gives XP to the first members who reply.

Questions come from three places, in this order:

1. Your own questions, added in /xp qotd. The least-asked one goes first.
2. AI (Premium servers): a fresh, friendly question written for your server, avoiding recent ones.
3. The built-in list: 150 ready-made questions. Each is asked once per server before any repeats.

Set it up#

Setting it up needs Manage Server. Run /xp engagement and choose Question of the day, or use the XP engagement page in the dashboard:

• Question of the day on/off and the Question channel (required). Buddy needs View Channel, Send Messages and Embed Links there, plus Create Public Threads for the thread.
• Open a thread for answers: replies go in a thread named "QOTD · Nov 3" that archives after a day. Off = replies in the channel itself.
• Post at (hour, UTC): the question is posted from this hour (default 12:00 UTC).
• XP per answer and Answers that earn XP: only the first N members (default 20) who reply with at least 15 characters get the XP, once a day each. Buddy reacts ✅ to a rewarded answer.
• Use the built-in questions, Generate with AI (Premium): the extra sources.
• Ping role (optional): pinged with each question.

Post today's question now posts straight away. Only one question is posted per UTC day.

Your questions#

/xp qotd (or /xpqotd) opens your question list. Add a question adds one; pick a question to edit it, take it out of rotation or delete it. Questions are asked least-used first, so every question gets a turn before any repeats.

What members see#

Nothing to learn: the question appears, they answer in the thread, and the first answers get XP. Answering also counts toward the Curious and Deep thinker achievements.

Premium#

AI-generated questions are a Premium feature. They use the same daily AI budget as the other AI commands, so on a busy day Buddy may fall back to your questions or the built-in list.

Troubleshooting#

No question was posted#

• It must be on, with a Question channel Buddy can post embeds in, and the XP system on.
• The question is posted from the Post at hour (UTC), within 5 minutes.
• With the built-in list off and no questions of your own, there's nothing to post (AI is only used on Premium servers).

Answers don't earn XP#

Only replies of 15+ characters in the thread (or the channel, with threads off) count, only the first N members each day, and members on a no-XP role or channel earn nothing. Replies to an older day's question don't count.
