Analytics shows how your server is doing over time: how many people join and leave, how much they chat, how long they spend in voice, when your server is busiest, and which invite keywords bring people in. It's off until you switch it on, so nothing is collected unless you choose to.
Before you start#
Free servers get the last 7 days and the top 3 invite keywords. Premium unlocks Last 30 days and Last 90 days (up to your plan's range) and the full top 10. All Time needs the Gold plan. See Premium.
Set it up#
It's under Overview in the sidebar.
In Collect analytics, tick Collect analytics for this server.
Click Save analytics settings. The badge changes to On and shows when it was Turned on.
Charts fill in as activity happens. Give it a day or two before reading too much into them.
What Buddy collects#
When collection is on, Buddy records counts, not content:
- Joins and leaves (bots aren't counted)
- How many messages are sent, per channel and hour
- Time spent in voice
- Reactions added and threads created
- Which Buddy commands are used (the command name only, never what was typed)
- Boosts and moderation actions
Data is stored in UTC and cleaned up automatically. How long it's kept depends on your plan. Untick Collect analytics for this server and save to stop collecting at any time.
Reading the dashboard#
Growth and engagement#
Pick a Date range in the top right of the card: Last 7 days, Last 30 days, Last 90 days or All Time. Options your plan doesn't include are greyed out.

Days are UTC days, so a "day" may start in the evening or morning where you live.
For days before you switched analytics on, the joins, leaves and messages lines may still show figures from Buddy's invite tracking and server logs, if those were set up.
Busiest times#
A heatmap of messages for each day of the week (rows) and each hour from 0 to 23 (columns), in UTC. Darker cells mean more messages. Hover a cell to see the exact count.
Use it to pick the best time for announcements, events and timed messages: post just before your busiest hours start.
To turn a UTC hour into your local time, add or subtract your offset. For example, if you're on US Eastern time (UTC-5 in winter), the 19 column is 2 PM for you.
Examples#
A quick weekly review that takes two minutes:
- Joins vs leaves. Are joins higher than leaves? A day with a big spike in joins and leaves often means a raid or a promotion that brought the wrong crowd.
- Top invite keywords. Which promotion worked? Put more effort into the keyword that's winning and drop the ones nobody uses.
- Messages. Did activity drop after a change you made? Compare this week with the last.
- Busiest times. Schedule next week's event in your darkest cells.

Troubleshooting#
The charts are empty#
- Check Collect analytics for this server is ticked and saved. The badge should say On.
- Data only starts from the moment you turned it on. Check back after some activity.
- Buddy can only count messages in channels it can see.
The range I want is greyed out#
Last 30 days and Last 90 days need Premium, and All Time needs the Gold plan. Each plan also has a maximum range; picking a longer one shows your plan's maximum instead.
Top invite keywords only shows "Unknown"#
Your members join through invites that don't have a keyword. Create keyword links with
/invite create (see Invite tracking) and share them
in your promotions.
The numbers don't match Discord's Server Insights#
Buddy counts from the moment collection is on, skips bots, uses UTC days and only sees channels it has access to. Discord's own insights use different rules, so small differences are normal.
The busiest times look shifted#
The heatmap uses UTC hours. Convert to your own time zone (see the tip above).
