Embed builder
Design rich embed messages with a title, color, fields, thumbnail, author and footer, then have Buddy post them and keep them updated.
On this page
The embed builder lets you design good-looking embed messages on the dashboard, with a live preview, and have Buddy post them for you. Rules, server info, FAQs, role menus, staff lists: anything that should look polished and stay up to date. When you edit an embed later, Buddy updates the message that's already in Discord, so links to it keep working.
Before you start#
- Create the channel first. If it isn't in the Channel list, run
/setupin Discord, choose Update Channels and Roles for Website, then refresh the dashboard. - Free servers can have up to 5 embeds. Premium raises the limit (see Premium).
- Anyone with access to your dashboard can edit your embeds.
Set it up#
It's under Automation & alerts in the sidebar.
In Create an embed, choose the Channel the embed will be posted in, then click Create new embed. You're taken to the editor.
On the Main content card, add a Title, Description, optional Title link, a Color and an optional Thumbnail image URL.
On the Author and footer card, fill in Author name, Author link, Author icon and Footer.
On the Fields card, click Add field, then enter a Field name and Field value. Tick Inline to place fields side by side.
The Preview card shows roughly how it will look. Click Save embed. Buddy picks up the change within about a minute and posts it.
A new embed isn't posted until you save it. The dashboard notes that a brand-new embed may need two saves before the full embed shows up in Discord. If only part of it appears, click Save embed once more.
Editing and deleting#
- To change an embed, click the pencil in Your embeds, edit it and click Save embed. Buddy edits the existing message in Discord; it doesn't post a new one.
- To remove one, click the bin icon in Your embeds. Buddy deletes the message from Discord within about a minute.
- To delete a single field, click its bin icon in the editor.

What members see:
Tick Inline on short fields (like "Owner", "Founded", "Members") to show up to three per row on desktop. Leave long fields un-ticked so each gets its own line.
Premium#
| Free | Premium | |
|---|---|---|
| Embeds per server | 5 | Higher, depending on your plan |
Deleted embeds don't count toward your limit. When you reach the limit, the Create an embed form is replaced with a note; delete one or upgrade to add more. Exact numbers per plan are on the Premium page.
Troubleshooting#
My embed never appears in Discord#
- Make sure you clicked Save embed at least once (twice for a brand-new embed). Until then the status stays Creating New Embed.
- Buddy needs View Channel, Send Messages and Embed Links in the channel.
- Give it a minute; Buddy checks for embed changes about once a minute.
My changes don't show up#
- Buddy needs Manage Messages in the channel to update an embed. If it's missing, the status changes to Embed Error and the dashboard Error Log notes the missing permission.
- If someone deleted the message in Discord, Buddy can't edit it. Delete the embed on the dashboard and create a new one.
The thumbnail, title link or author icon is missing#
These must be full, valid URLs starting with https://. Image links should point straight at the
image file (for example ending in .png or .jpg), not at a web page.
I can't create another embed#
You've reached your plan's limit. Delete an embed you no longer need, or upgrade to Premium.
