Ticket transcripts
Buddy saves a copy of every ticket conversation when it's closed or deleted. Find and read transcripts on the dashboard, and learn how long they're kept.
On this page
Every ticket leaves a paper trail. When a ticket is closed or deleted, Buddy saves the conversation to your dashboard, so you can look back at what was said long after the ticket channel is gone. There's nothing to switch on: if you use the ticket system, transcripts are saved automatically.
Before you start#
- Transcripts are saved even if you haven't set a ticket log channel.
- You need to be able to open the server's dashboard (server Administrator) to read them.
When a transcript is saved#
Buddy saves the ticket's messages whenever staff (or the member) use one of these buttons:
| Button | Saves the transcript |
|---|---|
| 🔒 Close / 🔒 Close with Reason | Yes, when the ticket is closed. |
| 📝 Transcript | Yes, right away. Use it to save a copy before deleting. |
| 🗑️ Delete | Yes, just before the channel is deleted. |
If a ticket is closed, reopened and closed again, the new messages are added to the same transcript. Messages that were already saved aren't duplicated.
What's in a transcript#
- Every message from members and staff, oldest first, with their name, user ID and avatar.
- Attachments, as links.
- A note like
[embed: Title]where a message contained an embed.
Messages from bots (including Buddy's own ticket messages) aren't included. Buddy reads up to the most recent 500 messages of a ticket.
Find a transcript#
It's under Tickets & applications in the sidebar.
The button is at the top right of the Ticket settings card. This opens Ticket transcripts.
Saved transcripts lists every ticket with its Ticket ID, the member's User ID and the Title (the reason they typed when opening it). The newest is at the top.
You see the ticket's details (who opened it, the title and its status) and then every saved message.
Ticket IDs count up per server (1, 2, 3…) and match the numbers in your ticket log channel, so you can jump from a log entry like Ticket Closed | Ticket 42 straight to transcript 42.
How long transcripts are kept#
Buddy deletes a ticket's saved messages 90 days after the ticket's last message. The whole ticket is removed at once, so a long-running ticket is never half-deleted. The ticket stays in the list, but its page shows No messages.
If you need to keep a ticket longer, copy what you need from the transcript page before then.
Examples#
What staff see in the ticket channel after clicking 📝 Transcript (the message removes itself after a minute):
@SamTheMod Transcript for this Ticket has been saved to https://www.Discord-Buddy.com.
And in the ticket log channel:
Deleting a ticket saves its transcript too, but clicking 📝 Transcript first gives you a log entry to point back to, which helps when a member asks about it later.
Troubleshooting#
A ticket is listed but shows "No messages"#
- The ticket hasn't been closed, deleted or transcribed yet, so nothing has been saved.
- Only bot messages were posted in it.
- It's been more than 90 days since the ticket's last message, so the messages were deleted.
"Ticket not found"#
The ticket belongs to another server, or the link is wrong. Go back to Ticket transcripts and pick it from the list.
Some older messages are missing#
Buddy reads the most recent 500 messages of a ticket. Very long tickets may lose their earliest messages.
I don't see the Transcripts page#
Open the dashboard for the right server. You need to be an Administrator of that server to manage it on Discord Buddy.
