Birthdays
Members save their birthday with /birthday set, and Buddy celebrates it with a message, a birthday role for the day and bonus XP.

Birthdays are a small thing that make a server feel like a community. Members save theirs with
/birthday set, and once a day Buddy posts a message for everyone celebrating, gives them a
birthday role for the day and adds some XP.
Birthdays are per server: a member sets theirs in each server where they want it celebrated, and nothing is shared between servers. No year is stored, so there's no age anywhere.
Set it up#
Setting it up needs Manage Server. Run /xp engagement, choose Birthdays, or use the
XP engagement page in the dashboard:
- Birthdays on/off.
- Birthday channel: where the wishes are posted. Empty = the XP level-up channel. Buddy needs View Channel and Send Messages there.
- Birthday role (optional): given on the day and taken back the next. Buddy needs Manage Roles, with its own role above the birthday role.
- Post at (hour, UTC): the daily check runs from this hour (default 9:00 UTC).
- Birthday XP: XP each member gets on their birthday, once a year (default 100, 0 = none). Members on a no-XP role or channel still get the message and role, just not the XP.
- Message: up to 200 characters.
{users}becomes the birthday members (pinged),{server}the server name. Empty = "🎂 Happy birthday {users}! Have a great one, from everyone at {server}!".
Run today's birthdays now in the panel posts today's celebration straight away (useful to test). Nobody gets birthday XP twice in the same year.

Members can save their birthday even while birthdays are off; it's celebrated once an admin turns them on. Someone born on 29 February is celebrated on 28 February in non-leap years.
Troubleshooting#
Nothing was posted on a birthday#
- Birthdays must be on, and the XP system too.
- Set a Birthday channel (or a level-up channel) where Buddy can send messages.
- The check runs from the Post at hour in UTC, within 5 minutes.
- The member must still be in the server.
The birthday role wasn't given or taken back#
Buddy needs Manage Roles and its highest role must be above the birthday role. Roles with Administrator, Manage Server or Manage Roles can't be used. The role is taken back during the next day's run.
